Who We Are Helping
Who We Are Helping:
Toly Care was officially formed in 2003 and is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. After many years of helping students in Haiti on a personal basis, we realized that we could make a greater impact as an organization.
Haiti is acknowledged to be the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The unemployment rates are hanging between 65-75% with a minimum wage of only $1.50 per day. More than one-third of school-aged children do not have the chance to attend school and in many areas the schools have no chairs or desks and students must sit on bare ground.
As such, the people there are in desperate need of help to improve their situation. We are dedicated to working to help the Haitian people help themselves by providing an education to the youth of the country.
We strongly believe that education is the key to progress for the people of Haiti. Our vision is a generation of Haitians who have the tools to rise above poverty, disease and oppression and we believe that educating the rising generation is the only way to make this vision a reality.
This ties in with our slogan of "Give a man a fish , you feed him for a day; Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."
HOW WE ARE HELPING:
In local schools in Port Margot, Haiti Toly Care has been paying for tuition and school supplies for 300 students for the past 4 years. These donations have provided the necessary tools for the students to take the opportunity to gain an education.
Toly Care is also currently building a school for underprivileged children. These children have become victims of neglect and poverty and we are hoping that they will turn their lives around and realize their full potential as we assist them with basic resources.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Financial Support
Through your Donations we will be able to purchase materials and build schools needed to educate and facilitate the students in Haiti.
Through your school, company or local community you can raise awareness and funds for needy children in Haiti.
Technical Support
Once our school is built we will be in great need of equipment such as computers, computer accessories, and overhead projectors.
Personal Assistance
We believe education is the key to progress.
So if you are a retired Teacher, Professor, Tutor or Graduating Student there are many opportunities for you to make a difference.
